Ty Coed was winner of the LABC energy efficient house in 2008. The house was designed with a simple shape to maximise solar gains from the south and minimise heat losses. Constructed using a double stud timber frame system, it also incorporates 300mm Warmcel insulation.
The house is a large detached family home, with four double bedrooms, with a family bathroom and one en-suite room. On the ground floor there a main entrance lobby and with a large utility. The rest of the ground floor is open-plan with a large kitchen-dining area leading out into the garden to the south.
